Coloured Glow In-The-Dark Reverse
The coin’s reverse depicts a snowfield with a tracked vehicle and a human observer beneath a coloured representation of the Aurora Australis, within the outline of Antarctica. As well as the inscription 2013 – AURORA AUSTRALIS, the reverse also includes the words ‘Australian Antarctic Territory’ and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
To capture the stunning colours of the Aurora Australis, the representation of this natural wonder has been coloured with glow-in-the-dark ink.

Issued as Australian legal tender, the coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year-date and the monetary denomination.
